Job Opportunity Creation?

I’ve always read about this but never actually seen a real life example. Meaning someone go into a market place in need of a job and just said.. hmmm since there are no jobs available i will create one for my self. I”m not sure of who is responsible for it in jamaica. Or it was just something that happen by chance. However a new occupation has been created.. and it is called “bus loader”.

Now you may laugh and say WHAT THE FUCKIS THIS YUTE TALKING BOUT (typing bout). Well its simple. I”ve seen it morning after morning and its the same set of people therefore i can basically say that is their occupation. They get up. really early. Hit the bus stops and convice people that this is the bus they need to take to get to their destination. This allows the conductor to rest up.. or help them.. so they can get out of the bus park in a quicker manner. This in turns increases efficiency and overall productivity for the day and up revenues for the week. Less time on the bus stand is equivalent to more trips which is equivalent to more money. The price they pay is minimal. I think I’ve seen them pay each bus loader 20 dollars on each load.

Note the relationship between the loaders and the bus’s are strictly free lance and a many to one relationship sometimes 5 guys are loading one bus. anyway. the amount of buss’s tha tpass through a bus station / stand in a day are.. like i dunno (ALOT) and they pass through several times a day. I”m really curious to know how much cash do they earn on a daily basis. It must be decent. not substantial but decen enough for them to come out the next day. and the next day and the next day.

Kind of an interesting observation I’ve been making over the past weeks. Just thought I’ld share.

Quite interesting. Honestly, I thought the bus loaders were the conductors themselves. Wonder what will happen to them, as well as those operators of the coasters and the smaller buses, when the JUTC station on Eastwood Park Road is complete. Someone told me that only (JUTC) registered (?) buses will be allowed, which would mean that the ‘robot’ buses would be out of business, or something to that effect. I guess that’s why the police and Transport Authority have been clamping down on them even more in recent times.

You’re late. Bus loading been around for quite a while. People have to find ways to survive, so why not create something instead of waiting on others?

its been around for a while yes. but it was never an occupation.. and generally they would work with the bus. However in recent times (since this year).

They go to the bustop and sell their service at a freelance rate.

As a self proclaimed loader myself, I can tell you the hours are arduous. Waking up at the crack of dawn, going to bed right before the rooster crows, you get virtually no sleep. Additionally, that camaraderie displayed during loading is B.S. Nuff time di dutty ducta bwoy dem nuh pay mi wid him claat claat rumpulstilskin ugly face and him dutty reebok classic crep self. But the satisfaction of hearing that “cling cling” sound in your palm when that dirty ill-coloured twenty dollar coin falls in your grimy ,ashy hand makes it worth it.
I saved up my coins and now I have a Dell Inspiron 6000. Its no macbook but now I have an alarm clock to wake me up in the mornings and not that blasted rooster.

Yea yute u late with this one. Bus loaders have been around since I was still in school round 5 years ago. It wasn’t a big thing then as it is now, but those guys have been around hustling for a long time. same holds true for the taxi loaders, now the driver just pulls up and some dude gets the people in the cabs.
but thats Jamaicans for you, always motivated to make that dollar.
