um.. honestly all i can say is in876. I been putting alot of time and effor on the weekends and when i get home from work into my lil project. the first of which to come onstream is http://events.in876.com or http://eventsin876.com the masthead “banner” for the site is just temp i know the text is ugly but the designer is taking a bit longer than expected so it’ll be up maybe next week.

So i woke up on saturday to a error page for my domain name. Checked the server company support forum, and bam there it was. my server that i host on was down for systemm checks and they found some corrupt logs and backups they actually did a full reinstall of the os.. (redhat). long and short is. i lost a few weeks from my server. eveerything that i host on my domain was reverted. to maybe 2 - 3 weeks. i lost like 3 blog entries i think. and they were so flipping long too i’m so pissed :(.. so i’ve decided. i will do a replica of my blog locally. then.. when i get the chance i update the live blog. cause this some real bullshit..

yep so i do my morning routine check of my favourite forums starting with ubuntu forums linuxquestions, animesynergy, maybe techjamaica depending on my mood. the first thing i saw when i went to my rssfeed page to check the last 10 posts from each forum was Edgy EFT released today.. i could almost do a backflip yo… been waiting on this shit to go final for a loooonnngggggg time.. as soon as i get home i plan to change out my sources.list file and do a dist-upgrade and get this shit started.. no more firefox i think it’ll be called bon echo but whatever. you can get details for the relaese form ubuntu forums,

So yknow i was board after getting in and just started doing ssome random checks as i usuallly do, the business directory is generally one of them.. i figured let me do some googling on some jamaican organizations or just some organization that i think would be listed and to my surprise the results where very much infavour of the business directory.

first was BWIA International Ltd.

which pulled the business directory as result number 2 and 3 in google test it yourself

second was Super Plus Food Store
which pulled he business directory as result number 3 in google test it yourself.

My third and final test impressed me the most and this was Billy Craig Insurance Brokers Limited
which pulled number 1 and 2 in the business directory see for your self. The reason why this impressed me so much is we were higher than billy craigs website in the google result set, but billy craig gets no negative impact from this because the searcher is still gonna get redirected to his sitei n the long run. so its a win for MR Billy Craig anyway

The business directory definatly works both the small and large business models who have any kind of webprescense at all and even if you dont have one you could still list as it gives you a chance to have some kind of online profile which google will detect and yknow thtas where people are looking for stuff most the time.. When i have some tmiee to spare i will run this same test wwith these 3 organization in yahoo and msn and do a comparison

where the directory fell down was not becauase of its architeture at all but actually due ot the lack of organization information provided by the client.. which really is their own fault if you think about it.

Hmm maybe I have a chance to clean up my act.. or maybe not i have no clue how long it has been postponed for.. but ne way about the real thing I’m browsign the business directory thinking of something new to do and i see in the random organizations block http://www.nrca.org/ read the descript then clicked and then is aw nepa. i’m like hmm i didn’t know thye had a site. and its not the pretiest thing but it works. informative it actually seems to get frequentish updates i see soemthing there from october the 2nd that just a few days ago.. I like organization sites that are frequently updated there a and i hate the online profile kind that never change at all. unless its a directory of some sort of course.. not bad nepa..

I realized that it was a real shame. money spend on the domain, the hosting got setup but i simply wasn’t paying the site anyattention so I took yesterday night into the morning setting up photoja.net its all redone there is no joomla in the mix this time as it really just wasn’t necessary this time were running coppermine photo gallery which honestly seems to be lightyears ahead of gallery2 in its design. gallery2 just proved it self userUNFRIENDLY. Most of the users hated it and eventually stopped uploading photos till they eventually started uploading photos to my animeforums and thats when i realized its a real shame and i gotta do something about it. not really spock said nothing like that, it sounds more like something that captain kurt (william shatnerwould say) was it kirk or kurt.. w/e… anyway on with this post.. its about a new browser that i came accross this morning.. its called flock - the social browser.

Realy interesting peice of software, it uses the same extensions as firefox and has a few more features to offer like direct gallery integration with blogs / websites where you can just drag and drop images instead of going ot the site to upload. kinda interesting would you say.. i doubt they have a linux version in repositories as yet if i dont feel like installing from source i wont cause generally i could’t install extensions with firefox from src installs, so no flocking for me.. but the fox does me good so i dont mind…

So i’m home for the weekend and extremely miserable as well because well.. duh i have no computer and i’m using my qtek to browse which has gone from being cool to being annoying because i cant do some of the things i want / need to do. so i visit go-jamaica.com and i was so happy/proud to see the first line on the the site
