Photo Junkie at large

Friday, March 21st, 2008

Yeah. Photography is time consuming, takes alot of research but it sure is fun. as of lately i think i’ve found some kind of balance in my life. Spend time with a lady friend, work, pereson web development and photography Everything is going on fine non of them suffers.. Well I do from time to time (tired as hell at times).  But I’m really happy with how everything is pulling together gotta give God some thanks yknow.

Here’s a photo i took of my gear the other day (some things are missing). It made me ralize that I really need to start pulling some serious ROI on this photography thing.

What's in my crumpler

This shows how much of a photo junkie I am

But thats all you guys get here, I post daily at my photoblog photoja.net. We have a project going on over there called the 365 photoproject. where we gotta compose 1 shot a day to post. Going well so far. I have’t put up my shot for yesterday though So sorry to dissapoint those who check daily.

Re  personal web development everything is going fine no problems or complaints. Re work Things are fine there as well.

Do you have an AVI file downloaded from your videocamera to your Ubuntu system that you want to put on a DVD for your family? Here are some easy steps:

Create an file called CREATOR in the same directory as your AVI file.
Paste the following into that file. Remember to change the filename in the second line before executing. Some of the options can be changed as needed such as the aspect ratio and burn speed:

Quote:

## Change <movie.avi> to the name of your AVI file
ffmpeg -i movie.avi -y -target ntsc-dvd -sameq -aspect 16:9 movie.mpg
dvdauthor –title -o dvd -f movie.mpg
dvdauthor -o dvd -T
mkisofs -dvd-video -o dvd.iso dvd/
growisofs -dvd-compat -dvd-video -speed=4 -Z /dev/dvd ./dvd/*

Change permissions for CREATOR to become executable and then run it from the command line:

Quote:

ramesh@ubuntu:~/movies$ ./CREATOR

I appreciate things like these and I’ve adopted enigma’s style and started blogging them cause it sucks when you wanna do something and you cant remember off your head.. the good old blog is always here for me.

Now to the windows operating system enthusiast the first thing your gonna run your mouth and say is.. but look how much work you gotta do to burn a dvd file.. well here wah S…T….F…U.. yeah you heard it.. i said it.. shut it donkey (shrek voice).. i reallly dont give a damn.. it works its free so go die or something.

Fiesty Fawn and its nicenesseseses lol

Yeah.. it took a whole night to download the files on a 3mb connection reason.. because the repo’s were under pressure from everyone.. lined up to get a slice of the best distro in the world.. teh_masterer_linux desktop distro ubuntu. So far it just seems like aethstetic upgrades.. but i’m sure the core has been touched to deal with things in a better manner.

What i have done since i’ve installed fiesty is.. compile the latest build of amsn version .97 this is basically windows live on linux.. y ou got webcam usage, you got nudging you got it all. so i just use gaim for my aol and yahoo im accounts now. So amsn owns for 2 reasons.. it looks pretty.. and it gives me back the ability to view hot chicks dacing for me via webcam.

I also installed the theme engine called murrino..l pretty sleek. Has all windows looking curvy and what not.. I also installed a new icon pack to complement it.. Really beautiful.. headover to gnome-loook.com if you really wanna pimp you system.

Saw this kid on techjamaica planning on dual booting.. Its so nice to see everybody trying ubuntu abit more.. hopefully the day will come where  people stop buying operating sytems. at least on a home basis.. enterprises may feel more comfortable spending their millions on enterprise edition server os from microsoft.. but the little man at home doign some word processing he could use open office. its not that hard to use at all…

Till my next linux ramble.. or another huge event happens in the open source world.. lata.

Deluge Torrent

Sunday, April 8th, 2007

If your an anime buff or movie buff or tvshow buff and use linux you definatly need a torrent app.. because the default one is lame. and the other alternatives are ktorrent (lame cause of kde) and web based alternatives.. like torrentflux. or using wine to emulate utorrent. but now we got out own. deluge torrent.. nice looking app. and it works. it still needs more work though.. you gotta actually open the app and say add torrent. it wont just open up the torrent by double clicking on the torrent file.

ran into an error this morning.. woulnd’t start the app but this terminal command got it to work

rm ~/.config/deluge/*.state && rm ~/.config/deluge/torrentfiles/*.fastresume

The Weekend

Monday, April 2nd, 2007

Another of the intermitent stay home weekends. Odd I guess but it wasn’t too bad. Felt kinda nostalgic to be honest Watched some anime that i used to watch as a kid running home to the tv after school, Gundam Wing endless waltz, played some psp and watched some more anime. There was this line from Endless Waltz that was so beautiful.. sad but true and beautiful.

Peace Revolution and War, the worlds destined endless waltz. We see this waltz performed probably once in our lifetime but our kids will live to see it once and thier kids and so on. moving on

Seeing Heero and the gang kicking ass and taking names gave me the same thrill as it gave me the first time watching it. Wing Zero, DeathScythe, Heavy Arms, Sandrock and the misguided Nataku.. along with some help from an old enemy Talgeese. Endless waltz gets 5 stars from me

I watched full metal panic I LAUGHED TILL I FRACTURED MY SPLEEN.. yeh… its that funny definatly worth the watch.

I watched witch hunter robin.. This one i loved.. I can’t help but be sympathetic to robin.. she’s so innocent. The ending i didn’t mind even though it left it open to speculation i’m prettys ure that robin and amon didn’t die.

Watched the tenjou tenge ova’s Man aya and maya natsume too hot for them own good. That was also a nostalgic kinda vibe.. brought back some memories. Saw nagi souchirou use the black dragon transformation technique…. WICKEDLY SICK MAN :).

This now was out of pure boredom.. I watched barnyard.. to my surprise it wasn’t that bad but.. I’m kinda ashamed that I watched it in the first place.. that kind of boredom should happen to no one.

I did some paper work for animesynergy. I’m thinking of doing something to monetize the site a bit.. Wrote up this proposal for someone will let you know if that went positive or not.. Wish me luck.

Also a friend of mine.. the windows enthusiast Matt is giving ubuntu linux an attempt. after a 3 day trail and error phase of silly mistakes which could happen to anyone one he’s finally up and running with beryl and all and just a few seconds ago he completed his media support by installing the restricted formats and win32codecs. Im honestly proud. He agrees that linux is fun to play with.. whcih is what i think keeps me to the os than using windows. even though things are more difficult I prefer it this way… I dont get bored. I patiently await to hear his feed back and feelings about linux after a first hand experience.. I also impatiently await the release of the next distribution of ubuntu linux fiesty fawn.

p.s.. I finished this psp game i been playing for sooooo long. 300 march to glory it seems i took so long because my psp joystick is going.. so leonidas was always taking a stroll on his own.. or fighting the direction i want him to walk in.. :(.. here’s a review 300 match to glory for psp.  I loved it every minute of it.

Mrxvt

Saturday, March 24th, 2007

This is like aterm or your normal terminal on steroids. its tabbed its got transparency its the shizzzniiiitttttt

but the home and end keys dont work on default.. here’s what you might need to know

Q: How to use the Home/End key to move the cursor to the beginning/
end of the current command line? When I press the Home/End key, a
	~ character is displayed.

A: It depends on your shell setting. If you set the terminal type
is set to `xterm' (mrxvt default since 0.4.0), put the following
lines in ~/.cshrc (if your shell is tcsh) or ~/.zshrc (if your
	shell is zsh):

		bindkey "\e[1~" beginning-of-line
		bindkey "\e[4~" end-of-line

Put the following lines into ~/.inputrc (if your shell is bash):

		"\e[1~": beginning-of-line
		"\e[4~": end-of-line

If your terminal type is set to `rxvt', replace `1' with `7', and
`4' with `8' in the above lines.

Thanks to Jowex at users.sourceforge.net for contributing the
	answer.

I need to do x in linux that i used x for in windows

Saturday, March 24th, 2007

Many of the times this is what hold people back from their operating system migration.. Here’s an interesting site that i’ve found linuxeq.com basically it means linux equivalent.. so it will give you the equivalent of photoshop for pc / mac in linux which would work out to be gimp.. I like it haven’t really used it yet since all i need is already in nix.
