Not a bad weekend. A few dissapointments but I’m alive today so it must have been a good weekend at the end of the… weekend… :s.. anyway. I went home on thursday night and went to work from portmore. So i got to kick it with this chick that lives infront of me. I spent most of friday morning trying to convince her to model for a photosession for me. I’ve taken a few photos of her and even given her prints yet she wont model for me in a controlled environment where i have control over the lighting the backdrop and so on. she agreed yet on sunday the shoot had to be cancelled..

with the non existence of the good old xbox 360 (it was sold) there is basically nothing to do on the weekends other than photography which i definately dont mind. me and the photo crew hit halfway tree on saturday for the bus park opening howver the damn thing wasn’t open to the public which is some real bullshit if you ask me. they said sunday.. and i wasn’t in the mood to go on the road on sunday so there’s no bus park photos for you to ohh and awe about as yet.

Majority of saturday evening and sunday was spent re-vamping my remote shutter releease switch for my dslr. It really sucked that it had a electrical short during the huge blackout last week it was a perfect night for a star trial attempt. I tried crimping the wires and holding it for 5 minutes with my hands to get the best i could.. take a look

on friday at work there was a staff party. I think i honestly failed at that to see my rant about the failure and a few of the images head here. After the staff party i headed to mona where there was idling and rum cream. after which we all went to medusa’s bar and idled some more (there was no more drinking by me though). Got some cool photos at medusa.. not much though.

sorry for the in coherent flow of time but i just started typing and clicking and when i was done i was like ouch.. (its too late to apologize ???)

anyway thats it for the day.

Last week saturday was a pretty good day for me. There was a Jamaican Flickr Linkup, Where those who attended all headed up to castleton botanical Gardens with our photography gear and captured the scenic greenery to our hearts content. there were about 10 people, Very interesting people as well. The nikonites were out in their numbers and among the group the most experienced users seemed to be toting nikon’s from d70’s to d200’s (beautiful machine). Among the canon user’s there was a 70-200mm f2.8 L lens. It stood out in all its white coated glory.. I want one so badly but that price tag will bleed my wallet thin.

Had a really good time met some talented and knowledgable people in the field of photography. Hope I”ll get to do that again soon. Also take a look at this photography club.

Saturday past 2 friends and my self set out to capture a panaroma shot of new kingston under properlighting.. i.e visible but no harsh sun light aka early in the morning before the sun hit the high skies. sadly we were a few minutes too late and the sun was already peaking over the building but the shot did’nt come out too bad. the shot was taken by Giovani Powel (virus/don giovanni) with his freshly bought sigma wide as a mofo angle lens.

Anyway after that we went to edna manely school of arts (by foot from new kingston after a lovely breakfast courtesy of burger king). Got some great shots at edna manely and saw a rly cute girl i went to college with.. big up sasha my one of fav black blonde in the whole wide world.

After edna manely we headed up to uwi for some nice architectural shots. Sadly i got no muse to take any photo’s when i was at uwi. I think i was distracted by the T and A population. I got a decent flower macro at uwi but sadly i left the images on linkin’s laptop cause i didn’t take my system with me this weekend. So i guess you wont see that till this weekend.

I haven’t walked that much in a day to be honest. was on the road from 7 am in the morning till about 5pm walking most of the way.

I was looking forward to this show all of last week. The plan was to hang out with this chick for the earlier part of the evening maybe watch a movie then go to redbones cafe for the live show. The girl cancelled on the movie plan though so i opted to meet with a friend to discuss some issues and help him answer an interview he was sent. After that headed to mona to prep for gas money’s performance. A good friend of mine is actually in the band.. or played with them that night.. not sure of the details w/e. Anyway lady friend decided she wanted to come so she forwarded to mona then we all jet off to the show. we got there at 10:30 for a 10:00pm show and the place was already rammed people standing and shit. So we’re outside about 8 of us. Eventually this chick rolled up and asked if we could all move inside se told her why we haven’t as yet n she said wait right here went in. probably killed some poeple adn freed up 2 tables for us *awesome: u rock lady.. yeah*. So the acts went on.. petrus was playing before we got inside. by the time we were seated they left stage adn bobby took over. now this guy is like a punk rocker of sorts i guess and basically the human version of sideshow bob from the simpsons (hair style is the same). He put out like 3 songs and got off stage. And then it happened Gas money Graced the Great stage and opened with THE UNCANNY XMEN STARTING THEME. the geeks that were there went ballistic. *me*. they did a few covers and about 2 or 3 originals and closed with JAYCE AND THE WHEEL WARRIORS THEME the whole crowd went wild. after that they were fooling around and started to play feels good and were pushed by the crowed to actually perform it. After the show i went behind the scenes to get a few shots of the band and tell em they were awesome. They were very much distracted though. wanting to talk to friends and so on. but all in all GAS MONEY LIT THE WHOLE PLACE UP.. roasted them red bones.

Saw an old school friend and snapped a shot of her looking hot Ruthie :p . When leaving i saw a silhouette of a woman on a bench with linkins help she was convinced to pose for a portait it came out nice but i could have done better with the flash. and the final of the night is the pornstarlet. awesome ride lol. who ever put that on their car is the friggin boss. Had a great time. I didn’t take much pictures because most of the night i was paying attention to the lady friend :).

On saturday i went to emancipation park.. well really i went to new kingston to pick up my replacement sim (got my old number that i lost back). and then i trodded to emancipation park after to snap a couple shots and do some reading before heading back home. .

On sunday i took a few shots and deleted all but one. This guy.. I wouldn’t have seen him if i wasn’t as odd as i am.. he was hanging upside down on the cieling of the carport. Why i dunno.. First i’ve ever seen one in that position. but i loved it. gave me a nice or rather different perspective.

Alot has happened. Good and bad things. But all in all all is well. (grammer) lol. Okay lets start with the bad. I lost my htc tytn.. It was on a night of the ninja’s where 2 of them held the humans hostage at the bus stop. the ninja rain was falling so hard that even though we were below shelter the water shiruken were bending inward and still catching us. I check my cell for momentary chronological updates. not long after i see a familiar human whom I’ve worked with before. She’s a really small human. She’s maybe 4 ft tall. and fragile looking to be honest. Because of the rains the people gathered at the bus stop but there were no beasts to ride home.. when the beasts finally started rolling in the people fought to get aboard. “something i never part take of” until today. Frustration, hunger, draining strength all pushed me to fight to get in to go home. my familiar human friend wanted to go on as well i feared for her the most they could easily step on her as she’s so small. i took her under my wing and guided her the whole way.. taking her safely into the belly of the beast.. on taking a seat i do a full systems check.. camera bag check.. all shit intact check.. pen and money and wallet check. cellphone.. hmm the case feels kinda light doesnt it.. well lets see. .. no cell phone. get up.. “YO NO MOVEMENTS..” i get out the beast and look around at the bustop nothing. everybody and their moma’s are calling my cell and nothing… after about 5 mins of that i got annoyed and moved on.. called my loses and said either i buy a new one or i do without.

Now the good

I’ve been writing for the paper under something titled “this week on the web”. It comes in the sunday paper every other sunday. I’ve done two so far. here’s the first. Not bad.. they hacked up my article a little but its kool the general gist is still there. I”m a litte upset about my last article which was done on google docs.. and zoho document processing suit.. they completedly slashed the zoho part of my article.

Social Circles

I think ma bredrin about ot re-enter the workforce. He’s been out of a job for a while n a really glad that things seem to be looking up. hope it works out for him. if he does get a job where he did his interview the other day he’s gonna be seriously “PAID”. like probably near twice my salary.

Another friend hit his 1 month old (relative to him owning it) honda 2003/2004 accord. I can imagine how he feels. he was actually hit by a truck but the insurance people said he was wrong as well and his wrong was worse than the truck driver so.. he had to pay for it i think. I think he has a truck curse on him. Because about 2 days after that he was crossing the road and a truck passed and he started to cross and the truck apparently rolled back a bit and hit him. bap put him on the floor same time. nothing huge him never break nothin. rian was falling and is not like is a car the truck hit so the trucker never even notice. hopefully him dont find a truck on top of him car this week. cause something just kinda odd.

The traffic from portmore is a real dirty prostitute who just did a head giving marathon and is smothered in sperm from head to toe.. Yeah it is that bad or good i guess it depends if your the prostitute of the guy(s). anyway its taking me hours to get to and from home. i’m sick of it i wanna live in town now like seriously.

Photography

I’ve been reading and reading and reading and it is paying off. I’ve learnt many things thanks to scott kelby’s book, “the digital photography book”, the confused photographers guide to on camera spot metering, and every issue of popular photography since august. My captures/ shots are improving, I’m noticing things before i take the picture and not after.. I’m getting it right the first time now more than ever so my Post image processing time has been cut down I mainly use gimp to put my logo on the photos and of course before that i use ufraw to finish my image and save to jpg. I did a konoha series (naruto homage) see my flickr latest photos below.

Today I saw another shot i took for the golocal in schools blogging competition in the paper. It was the star but it still feels good :). Feels good. but it still hurts me that my name isn’t there. Will post a picture of it later.

I went to hope gardens again this weekend. I”m really a fan of dragon flies. I also got to try out a new techique, or rather equipment. Infrared filter Love it and as a result i may buy a whole filter kit this weekend.

I’ve got 2 days to plan saturday and sunday as well. need somewhere to go and something to shoot. I”m tinking with a “theme type expedition” type weekend where each day has a different theme and we try to ensure that our subject in our pictures depict or tell’s something about the selected theme of the day. or maybe we can do it hourly based..

the problem is theme… and location.. dunno what to pic and where to go. Help me out a bit eh..

Oh last but not least i got my logo finally. top designer made it for me mad ehhhh?

This weekend was GREAT. Mainly from a photography stand point but it was great non the less. On Saturday Linkin, Don Gio and myself (taylor2nd) all linked up at emancipation park in new kingston for a shoot out of sorts nobody died thankfully but we did get some great shots. We worked emancipation park then worked our way up to knutsford blvrd. Then around to cuddy’s then to halfway tree.

On Sunday Linkin and i linked up at hope gardens More great shots. Kinda felt like a jungle vibe.. just for 1 minute when we were trodding through the bushes and the trees gave a canopy like effect. I Got some superb dragon fly macro shots at hopegardens.. attempted a panorama.. but the exposures varied so it didn’t really look that cool to me.

Sunday was a solo Day and i didn’t really do much.. Didn’t even leave my friends house just took anything I saw that looked interesting. Got about 2 keepers
